Fifty years: how an engineering culture takes shape

An institution is measured less by the projects it produces than by the values it passes on. TÜMAŞ's fifty years were built on that sentence.

Fifty years: how an engineering culture takes shape

When TÜMAŞ was founded in 1969 by Mr. Turgut Özal, it was one of the earliest technical consultancy firms in Turkey. The country of that era largely purchased its engineering know-how from abroad. The founding story of TÜMAŞ is the will to reverse that equation.

Fifty years later we have more than 500 completed projects in over 40 countries behind us. But these figures are only the surface of the institutional substance. The real legacy of an engineering culture is the technical discipline, ethical posture and public-good orientation passed between generations.

The new era requires that culture to be rebuilt through digital tools, multi-disciplinary teams and international partnerships. Fifty years is not a finish line but a starting marker — the next half-century has to be designed already.
